To study at New Era Institute all students must meet entry requirements:


  • Attained the age of 18 years and over;
  • Demonstrated good command of written and spoken English;
  • Verified evidence of IELTS Level 6 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent;
  • Have completed year 12 or an equivalent secondary schooling level of a Higher School Certificate or can demonstrate suitable work or life experience; and
  • Meet the requirements for the Student Visa (Subclass 500)  – From 1 July 2016, there will be only one student visa available to study in Australia – the Student visa (subclass 500).

Following persons are eligible to certify copies:

  • An authorised officer from the institution that originally issued the documents (such as Registrar or Principal);
  • An Australian overseas diplomatic mission or any Australian Education Centre;
  • A licensed translator recognised by law in your country; or an authorised NEI representative.

Documents Required

The International Student Enrolment Form Must Be Accompanied By:

Documents required:

  • A copy of passport
  • Student Visa (Onshore Students Only)
  • Certified copies of English proficiency (Evidence of IELTS proficiency – General Score of 5.5) (must be obtained within the last 2 years, if required) and
  • Evidence of Higher School Certificate or equivalent secondary schooling outcome. i.e. Certified copies of Academic Transcripts & Certificates

After the enrolment form has been submitted:

When we receive your enrolment form, our Student Services Officer will review it for completeness. The representative of New Era Institute/Agent will be in contact with you for the enrolment process and collecting documents. When the enrolment form is accepted, you will be issued a Letter of Offer, which is valid for 14 days from the date of issue, providing details for initial payment of fees with an International Student Acceptance Agreement for your decision.

Your tuition fees are guaranteed under the Australian Government The Tuition Protection Service – More about this guarantee can be found at https://tps.gov.au/Home/NotLoggedIn

Once you accept the offer, you are required to return the International Student Acceptance Agreement signed by you with the initial payment of fees requested as indicated in your letter of offer.

Upon approval of your enrolment, an electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCoE) will be generated and forwarded to Department of Home Affairs and yourself at the address provided on your enrolment form with an official receipt for the fees paid.

If your enrolment documents are not complete, our Student Support Officer will contact you for further requirements.

Applying for a Visa

It is the applicant’s responsibility to apply for a student visa.

You will be unable to apply for a student visa without the eCoE.

When you receive your eCoE, you must apply for the Student Visa (Sub-class 500) online. You can apply when you are in or outside of Australia. After you have gathered and scanned the documents that support your application, create an account and apply for your student visa with the Department of Home Affairs online application system – ImmiAccount.

If you do not provide the documents requested, your visa application could be refused. Go to https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500 for more information.

Successful Student Visa

If your student visa application is approved, you should contact New Era Institute and provide evidence of approval. New Era Institute will contact you to confirm your timetable, start date and all other arrangements for your study with New Era Institute.

Unsuccessful Student Visa

If your student visa application is NOT approved, you must contact New Era Institute And advise us and apply in writing for a refund of student fees in accordance with our Fees and Refund Policy.

The Student Handbook

Please refer to the Student Handbook for information on your rights and responsibilities and services provided by New Era Institute. 

At New Era Institute, we deliver nationally accredited qualifications via campus-based training. The timetable is structured to allow you to study and have a part-time job (no more than 20 hours per week under current regulations). The courses are predominantly classroom-based with a structured guided study such as pre-reading, completing workbook exercises, audio-visual activities, reviewing material from daily sessions, assessment preparation and completion time at home.

Early Childhood Education and Care courses have a compulsory work placement hours as part of the course requirements. Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending in your previous study or work experience and if you have gained credit for units from another Australian Registered Training Organisation, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (If you gain credit for either of these two forms of assessments, there will be changes to your visa length).
